The Jerome Freeman Project

Once upon a time in the past…

The Beginning

The music fills the soul:

The Jerome Freeman Project has a passion for music that started when very young. Being a founding force in a few bands before The Jerome Freeman Project, it was time for a new vision and avenue for inspiration.

The Places to Visit demo starts the journey of discovery with 28 songs. Some people have referred to this period as the “sad bastard music” period. The demo had a very somber tone but did have a few uplifting bright spots.

Filter the Light and Raining tones offer a bright view coming out after a darker time. Across the Copper Wire and From a Distance show different side to the same coin of a sullen heart. Sorrow’s Tale is a blues instrumental from the soul. There is also a nostalgic inclusion of Lights Out (Parts 1 and 2) which were two of the first songs Steve ever wrote.

The Journey and the 4 Track

The path that the music takes you:

And with that the journey started.

The follow up demo was 2002’s Kingdom In Ransom EP. Featuring the single Alexander The Great which was the first song that Bush played on live drums.

After a small hiatus, The Jerome Freeman Project returned in 2005, releasing the demo Northwest by Southeast. This was 5 mostly acoustic songs with some sweet bongo work.

2006/2007 was the Nice to Meet You EP, which with some guest help for the first time had some classic songs. With an acoustic version of Tonight and the upbeat Moving to Canada, this was a strongly received offering.

2009’s release was the 6 song EP, Never Been There. This had the long awaited release of the song Places to Visit, a cover of the Blake Babies song Girl in a Box and the country inspired My Favorite Stain.

Another long hiatus passed where there were a few songs written and recorded but nothing was produced. This time frame gives us Broken Down and Clouds in Your Eyes.

In 2020, work began on a few new ideas and the foundations for the Beyond demo. This was a 2 song demo that was born from the frustrations of 2020. For Those That Have Gone is an instrumental guitar tapestry, while Meet Me in the Wind is an epic of the many feelings of 2020. Guest vocals by Ekaterina were amazingly done through passing files back and forth during recording.
